Java Update Notice

08 May 2008

If you play one of our Java-based games, you will need to update your Java environment by 1 July 2008. At that time, our development will be updated to use the latest release of Java 2 v1.6. This update will affect downloaded programs (for example, Digital Dominoes Basic/Deluxe and Digital Dojo) as well as browser-based Java games (for example, the browser-based versions of Digital Dominoes and Digital Dojo). HTML and Flash games (such as Data Miner or FishPond) will be unaffected.

This change will be necessary to support the Vespucci world servers, but will also reduce the complexity (and thus imiprove the stability) of other games. You can find instructions on how to upgrade to the latest version of Java at java.sun.com.

Vespucci Update Delayed

08 May 2008

The long-awaited update to the Vespucci client software has been delayed due to some performance issues in older versions of the Java Environment. The software will run under the 1.4, 1.5, and 1.6 environments, but in several circumstances performance is only acceptable in the latest 1.6 beta environment.

We will post more information on the revised release date when we are satisfied with the performance in the latest public version of the Java environment.

Site Overhaul

03 November 2007

We have had a few reports of people encountering difficulties when trying to purchase Digital Dominoes Deluxe. We ask that anyone encountering a problem please tell us which browsers they are using, and if an error message is displayed please cut-and-paste the message.

Please note also that Digital Dominoes Deluxe is currently only available for purchase in the United States. We would like to make the program available to buyers in other countries, but the cost of ensuring compliance with the tax laws of other countries is prohibitive at this time (currently the United States does not tax internet sales; the same is not true of most other countries). We regret the inconvenience this has created for several prospective buyers, and plan to have several new games and features added to Digital Dominoes Basic that will hopefully mitigate their disappointment. We will offer our games for sale outside the United States at some point in the future when we can ensure that we are complying with other countries' tax laws.

Thank you for your understanding and assistance.

Digital Dominoes Rebate Program

03 August 2007

You bought that 'other' dominoes software because it promised you the ultimate experience in playing dominoes on the computer. You brought it home, you started it up, and it turned out to be the ultimate disappointment.

We can help! From now through 31 December 2007, customers who upgrade to Digital Dominoes Deluxe from a competitor's program can receive a rebate of half their purchase price. Read more here.

Site Overhaul

03 August 2007

Over the next several days we will be reorganizing the web site to improve your experience. The Home page will become your central point to reach any of our games. News items, which were originally displayed on the Home page, will be moved to the News page, which will also contain the archive of old news. Important announcements will appear on the News page, and will be added to the Community page. The Products page will be updated to contain a link to a dedicated page for each of our products.

Of far greater scope is the launch of DigiWiki, which will store all game documentation and other game-related content. We will also use DigiWiki to preview new games and game enhancements, and provide you - the users - with an opportunity to discuss the changes and provide feedback.

A big round of thanks to Domino-Games.com, which continues to provide us with valuable input on how to improve our domino software.

Be the Boss!

18 June 2006

Boss is a challenging new way to play poker dice. Each round, players try to get the highest poker hand in just two throws of the dice. The player with the highest hand after the first throw is the Boss. The odds are stacked in the Boss' favor, since the Boss gets to decide whether to continue a round or call it off. But there's a catch - the Boss in each round is also the banker and will have to pay every player who beats the Boss' poker hand.

Cribbage for Four

2 June 2006

A new version of the Cribbage card game is available beginning today. This new version adds the capability to select between one and three computer opponents, and to set the game point at 60 or 120 points. The new version also features several improvements to the user interface, including pausing after each card is played and better messages about whose hand is being scored at the end of each round of play.

Still in development are minor improvements to the layout of the user interface, highlighting each player's name as they take their turn, and an improved card drawing routine.
